Meet Genevieve Piturro, Passion-Driven Woman Entrepreneur
Genevieve boosts the voice of founders and executives by aligning their business goals with their personal lives. Through speaking presentations, two books, a Leadership Workforce Program, masterclasses, and seminars, her company, Genevieve Piturro LLC, helps people live fulfilling lives - something only a person who has all the values and strengths of the #VISIBILITY style, the Open Book, can do!
Genevieve has mastered the marketing approach for her business by letting her walls down, and showing others that this is not a sign of weakness but rather one of confidence. She demonstrates how opening up to others is often the key to understanding how to get the most out of life and work.
“I have learned that sharing my personal journey full of ups and downs (some way down), is what has inspired others to believe in themselves and listen to their hearts too–even if it means turning their lives upside-down.”
– Genevieve Piturro
#VISIBILITY STRATEGY:
So…what is Open Book style? Melissa Barker, Founder & CEO of Women Entrepreneurs Inc., outlines 8 #VISIBILITY styles in her book that help women understand how to use their unique values and strengths to grow their business. These styles give you a framework for leaning into the channels, content types, and outlets that make getting #VISIBLE easy and fun - find your style here!
Women who are the Open Book style are most confident being themselves and leaning on personal experiences to connect with others. They share the high-highs and low-lows with honesty and openness that instantly engages the trust of their followers. They befriend people quickly and produce content that is spontaneous and energetic, with the priority of sharing it in the raw form - not hiding faults or off-days.
Genevieve shares her success story, impactful #VISIBILITY strategies, and personal tips as a woman entrepreneur who falls under this particular style.
#VISIBILITY:
A Shared Purpose
Exploring her career and style, a key moment that changed everything in Genevieve’s life came from a powerful real-world experience. She recalled “... meeting a little girl in an emergency shelter who asked me a life-altering question. I saw the reaction in others that mirrored mine, bonding us together in a shared purpose, moving us forward together.” The vulnerability of this moment opened the door to a deeper connection than she expected. This question sparked a book, a career, and mission, and an entire trip to meet Oprah!
The energy of this conversation moved not only Genevieve to her core but the entire room she was in. In the moment, she and her audience became one. That engagement only grew through the support of media coverage, with her story going from being featured in local newspapers to national exposure on morning shows!
Genevieve is the poster child for the Open Book style. She is unfiltered, and unafraid to talk about the pressing emotions and matters at hand - which is why her tagline is “Your Purpose. Your Life.” Leveraging her ability to share her story and feelings openly, Genevieve’s approach to #VISIBILITY has enabled her company to grow to unprecedented heights.
Using Experience to Uplift Authentic Engagement
Being an Open Book has its challenges.
Through her experience, Genevieve realized that while being authentic and open in her work has its merit, it can be very intense. Especially as someone whose work revolves largely around being on stage and sharing information about her personal journey. She explained that it is very hard to feel comfortable crying on a stage in front of hundreds of people; given the nature of her work, she often finds herself in this position.
The trust she has gained from being vulnerable with her story and expressing herself is whole-heartedly worth it. She noted, “Once I embraced the fact that audiences trusted me enough to listen to my messages because I was revealing my heartfelt feelings to them, I noticed more people wanted to connect with me in the hopes of inspiring their audiences, readers, and viewers.”
This understanding shaped Genevieve’s approach to #VISIBILITY. Being able to tell a story unapologetically leads to others finding themselves in her and making her message even more impactful. Tears are not a weakness, even if it is intimidating to let them fall freely at first.
#VISIBILITY TIPS & HACKS
Genevieve uses many different channels to boost her #VISIBILITY with her unique style, with social media, community events, and podcasts being her channels of choice. By focusing on these platforms, she maintains a consistent stream of engagement with her following, shares her message, and sets herself up for the chance to find meaningful connections. Through social media, she can reach a broad audience, while podcasts give her the opportunity to share her story and insights with more niche groups she might not otherwise think of. A unique hack she’s discovered is to include not only her success stories in her posts but also when things fall short. “I make sure to include stories of my mistakes, fears, and disappointments when I share my messages” Genevieve stated.
Being an Open Book means showing honesty to a T, and talking about the good, bad, and the ugly shows character and invites a conversation. In exploring other channels, Genevieve is interested in seeking ways to reach much larger audiences in anticipation of sharing her presentation, “How to Be a Voice that Moves the World.” Her goal is to work with students at the start of their journeys and set them up for success from an internal perspective.
Genevieve Piturro’s #VISIBILITY style that is all about being authentic in the best way, making her stand-out with an impact whose reach is as far as it is deep. She embraces her emotions and personal stories - sharing not just the wins, but also the losses that have challenged and reshaped her. Her style has helped her create and promote an impactful business that has changed lives.
